Nestled among the lush landscapes of El Salvador, the Finca La Reforma coffee farm is a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication to coffee cultivation in this Central American gem. Known for producing high-quality Arabica beans, El Salvador is proud of its coffee heritage, and Finca La Reforma exemplifies the effort to strive for excellence.
Located in one of the picturesque regions of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec hills, Finca La Reforma benefits from an ideal altitude and climate. At an altitude of more than 1,350 meters above sea level, coffee cherries flourish, developing the unique flavors that distinguish La Reforma coffee.
Bourbon, Pacas, SL28 varieties are grown on the farm. Finca La Reforma is not only dedicated to coffee cultivation, but also to sustainable practices. Native tree species are grown here to provide shade for the coffee plants. Shade trees lower the coffee's growing temperature and reduce sunlight. They also prevent soil erosion and provide habitat for birds and other wildlife.
The cherries are hand-picked by trained personnel who select only ripe fruit. They are then delivered to El Borbollon, where it is sorted to separate by density and then laid out to dry on shaded raised beds. The cherry dries for about 20 days which clearly contributes to the long and fresh taste of the roasted grain even a year after harvest.
Meticulous attention to harvesting and processing at Finca La Reforma contributes to the tropical fruits in the final cup, along with a big hint of sweetness from brown sugar and chocolate.
